About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform placental sampling, dissection, and biological sample processing
  • Conduct DNA/RNA extraction from blood and other human tissues
  • Execute molecular genetics techniques including methylation-based DNA analyses (pyrosequencing) and real-time PCR quantitation
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, reagent stocks, and consumables inventories
  • Prepare buffers and solutions and manage appropriate laboratory waste
  • Analyze research results and incorporate data into computer databases
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, including autoclaving instruments

Requirements

  • High school graduation with at least two years of related experience or equivalent education
  • Knowledge of molecular and cell biology techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSc in Biology or a related discipline
  • At least one year of relevant laboratory experience
  • Strong understanding of biological and chemical safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail for data entry and organization
