About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform placental sampling, dissection, and biological sample processing
- Conduct DNA/RNA extraction from blood and other human tissues
- Execute molecular genetics techniques including methylation-based DNA analyses (pyrosequencing) and real-time PCR quantitation
- Maintain laboratory supplies, reagent stocks, and consumables inventories
- Prepare buffers and solutions and manage appropriate laboratory waste
- Analyze research results and incorporate data into computer databases
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, including autoclaving instruments
Requirements
- High school graduation with at least two years of related experience or equivalent education
- Knowledge of molecular and cell biology techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace
Preferred Qualifications
- BSc in Biology or a related discipline
- At least one year of relevant laboratory experience
- Strong understanding of biological and chemical safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail for data entry and organization
