About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing ethical guidelines and policies related to working with Indigenous communities, such as TCPS2 and OCAP.
  • Prepare case studies demonstrating ethical challenges in research for use in educational materials.
  • Collaborate with researchers and educators to implement findings in institutional policies and classrooms.
  • Support the preparation, implementation, and analysis of interviews, focus groups, workshops, and sharing circles.
  • Create various media, including blogs, presentations, and videos, to support public communication and curriculum work.
  • Support the design and implementation of research studies using Indigenous research methodologies.
  • Write for academic, governmental, and community audiences using plain and accessible language.
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality protocols throughout all research activities.

Requirements

  • High school graduation with additional training in a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous research methodologies, decolonization, and reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous knowledge systems and pedagogies.
  • Experience conducting qualitative research, including interviews or community-based research.
  • Strong organizational and coordination abilities with experience managing multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to ethical research practices, cultural humility, and ongoing reflexivity.
