About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the UBC Baby Learning Lab, including participant recruitment and scheduling.
- Support researchers by setting up equipment, monitoring neuroimaging studies, and following established experimental protocols.
- Coordinate and distribute tasks to undergraduate students and volunteers, providing training on research procedures as needed.
- Perform basic technical troubleshooting for laboratory equipment and software.
- Manage administrative tasks such as tracking expenditures, checking monthly ledgers, and assisting with ethics approval upkeep.
- Support research documentation by helping with reference collection for papers and grant writing.
Requirements
- High school graduation with at least two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of research design and experimental procedures.
- Technical troubleshooting skills to resolve low-level hardware or software issues.
- Proficiency with Mac operating systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse families and community members.
Preferred Qualifications
- University degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Biology, or a related field.
- Experience in developmental psychology research, specifically involving infants and young children.
- Familiarity with ethical guidelines regarding human subjects and child participants.
- High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
