Research Assistant/Technician 1

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance of animals and microbial pathogens
• Prepare experimental equipment and assist post-docs and graduate students during experiments
• Monitor and maintain a safe working environment
• Manage laboratory waste through autoclaving media, tips, and other materials
• Handle general lab maintenance including washing glassware and making media/pouring plates

Requirements

• High school graduation
• Minimum of one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with animal and microbial maintenance
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and sterile techniques
• Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

• BSc in Biology
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
• Physical ability to perform job duties such as lifting and standing
