About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance of animals and microbial pathogens
- Prepare experimental equipment and assist post-docs and graduate students during experiments
- Monitor and maintain a safe working environment
- Manage laboratory waste through autoclaving media, tips, and other materials
- Handle general lab maintenance including washing glassware and making media/pouring plates
Requirements
- High school graduation
- Minimum of one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with animal and microbial maintenance
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and sterile techniques
- Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- BSc in Biology
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Physical ability to perform job duties such as lifting and standing
