About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments in cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, and flow cytometry
  • Compile references and assist the supervisor with writing and figure creation
  • Record and document research data as requested by the Principal Investigator
  • Assist in analyzing and summarizing results from various research projects and data sets
  • Attend weekly lab meetings to discuss work progress and collaborate with graduate students
  • Assist with training new students in experimental procedures and safe lab equipment usage

Requirements

  • High school graduation and at least one year of related laboratory experience
  • Experience with cell culture (cell lines and primary cell isolations)
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, RT-PCR)
  • Proficiency in biochemistry techniques (Western blots and enzymatic assays)
  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with hazardous materials including radioactive chemicals and organic solvents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a university degree in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Experience in the areas of glycobiology and functional genetics
  • Coursework or experience with quantitative research methods
