Research Assistant II in Invertebrate Genomics

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to research projects in Dr. Tauana Cunha’s lab
• Perform analysis and interpretation of genomic data
• Conduct scientific writing for research outputs
• Manage laboratory upkeep, including equipment maintenance (centrifuges, thermocyclers, nanopore sequencer) and supply stocking
• Train and support student research activities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 1-2 years of related research experience
• Proficiency in R and command-line/bash scripting
• Experience with molecular lab techniques, including DNA extraction, library preparation, and high-throughput sequencing
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in biology, evolution, or a related field
• Experience with genome-scale sequencing of non-model organisms
• Familiarity with or enthusiasm for working with invertebrate animals
