About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in animal open-heart surgery and provide pre- and post-surgery care
- Collect and analyze telemetry-aided electrocardiography traces
- Perform terminal surgery and conduct biochemical assays on frozen tissue samples
- Contribute to manuscript writing and revision work as desired
- Maintain rodent husbandry and perform laboratory tasks including cell isolation and culture
Requirements
- BA/BS in animal physiology or a related biological field
- Mandatory previous animal research experience
- Ability to commit to a minimum of one year in the position
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of previous job-related research experience
- Undergraduate or post-baccalaureate research experience specifically in animal physiology
- Experience with FRET, calcium/sarcomere imaging, or protein and DNA assays
