Research Assistant I

Responsibilities

• Assist in animal open-heart surgery and provide pre- and post-surgery care
• Collect and analyze telemetry-aided electrocardiography traces
• Perform terminal surgery and conduct biochemical assays on frozen tissue samples
• Contribute to manuscript writing and revision work as desired
• Maintain rodent husbandry and perform laboratory tasks including cell isolation and culture

Requirements

• BA/BS in animal physiology or a related biological field
• Mandatory previous animal research experience
• Ability to commit to a minimum of one year in the position
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of previous job-related research experience
• Undergraduate or post-baccalaureate research experience specifically in animal physiology
• Experience with FRET, calcium/sarcomere imaging, or protein and DNA assays
