About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct wet lab research activities for a National Science Foundation-funded project investigating craniofacial and sensory evolution
  • Train graduate and undergraduate students in experimental tasks and laboratory protocols
  • Manage animal husbandry for the live Mexican tetra colony
  • Perform general laboratory maintenance and housekeeping duties

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or four years of relevant work experience/specialized training
  • Experience with fish husbandry and live animal care
  • Proficiency in molecular techniques including PCR, cloning, and nucleic acid extraction
  • Basic bioinformatics and "dry lab" analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fluorescence and light microscopy, cryosectioning, tissue culture, or transplantation
  • Experience processing and analyzing RNA-sequencing and genome-wide sequencing projects
  • Experience training and supervising undergraduate students
  • Proficiency with statistical software and MS Office Suite
