About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the acquisition, processing, and integration of spatial and remote sensing data to support urban ecology research
  • Conduct routine analysis and interpretation of spatial data, including data visualization, mapping, and spatial analysis
  • Develop and utilize custom GIS and remote sensing tools to create spatial datasets, maps, and reports
  • Support the integration of spatial data with field-collected data
  • Organize and maintain spatial data inventories to ensure efficient access for internal and external partners
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for GIS workflows, data processing methods, and metadata
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to provide technical assistance and support research initiatives

Requirements

  • High school graduation with additional training in a related field
  • Minimum of two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Forestry, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in GIS and remote sensing
  • Familiarity with GIS software such as ESRI Suite or eCognition
  • Experience with Python scripting for spatial data analysis, mapping, and data visualization
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
