About the role

About the Company

Arcturus is creating a new wire technology stack that uses carbon nanomaterials to overcome the materials limitations of metals. Our technology is designed to significantly improve the performance of electric motors for drones and robotics, heat sinks, and the entire energy grid.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain carbon nanomaterial and powder supplier databases
  • Support nanomaterial handling, sample preparation, and experimental tracking
  • Support fixture and tooling development through CAD
  • Assist with additive manufacturing experiments and build tracking
  • Support flash sintering fixture iterations and part sourcing
  • Create and improve sample preparation SOPs for polishing, sectioning, and mounting
  • Support internal materials testing including Raman spectroscopy and electrical characterization
  • Coordinate with external vendors and labs for testing and sample shipments
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, lab notes, and test summaries

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a BS, MS, or PhD in materials science, mechanical, chemical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering, physics, or chemistry
  • Strong technical curiosity and willingness to learn across multiple disciplines
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a lab, shop, or experimental environment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
  • Ability to execute quickly in a fast-moving startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a research lab, hardware startup, or advanced manufacturing environment
  • Experience with carbon nanomaterials, graphene, carbon nanotubes, or metallurgy
  • Familiarity with Raman spectroscopy, SEM/EDS, or microscopy
  • CAD experience, ideally with Onshape
  • Experience with literature reviews and supplier research
