About the role

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate proposal development and processing for approval, signature, and submission to external sponsors.
  • Prepare proposal packages in sponsor portals and assist faculty with routing through internal systems like InfoEd (GeauxGrants).
  • Review proposals for compliance with sponsor requests, university procedures, and policies.
  • Provide administrative support for grants and contracts, including transmitting account requests and routing amendments.
  • Maintain College of Science records for proposals and awards and assist with research reporting.
  • Serve as a liaison between faculty, staff, and university offices such as the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and the Office of Research & Economic Development (ORED).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • For Specialist 2 level: One year of related experience in research administration or grant management in a university setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to succeed in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Superior customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Three years of experience in pre-award research administration with federal grant applications (e.g., NSF, NIH, NASA, and DOE).
  • Thorough understanding of federal grant regulations and their implementation in higher education.
  • One year of professional experience in a university setting.
