Research Accountant

Responsibilities

• Analyze actual expenditures against budgets and prepare reports for financial planning and compliance
• Interpret and apply University and sponsor policies to ensure research compliance
• Monitor, record, reconcile, and report on funding accounts for research agreements
• Prepare budget variance reports and produce complex statistical or financial reports
• Identify and resolve data anomalies and discrepancies
• Prepare and record regular deposits

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or Commerce, or an equivalent combination of experience
• Minimum four (4) years of relevant financial accounting experience
• Experience with financial accounting systems (e.g., FIS) and administrative database management
• Advanced spreadsheet skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement preparation
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
