Reporter, Rural

Responsibilities

• Research, produce, and present rural and primary industry stories across digital, radio, and other multi-platform formats
• Deliver high-quality content for key programs including the Rural Report and Country Hour
• Collaborate with editors, producers, and fellow reporters to develop engaging story ideas
• Identify and create impactful local stories that resonate with both regional and national audiences
• Engage deeply with rural communities to uncover perspectives of national significance
• Contribute to emergency coverage planning and reporting as required

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in journalism or agriculture
• Strong editorial judgement and storytelling skills
• Proven ability to create engaging content across multiple platforms, including live presentation
• Sound knowledge of rural and regional Australia and the issues affecting primary industries
• Ability to build and maintain strong community contacts
• Possession of a current and valid Driver’s Licence with flexibility to travel to remote locations
