Responsibilities
- Spend one year producing signature investigative work focused on Louisiana or Mississippi that will be published by The New York Times.
- Receive intensive editorial guidance and training from veteran investigative editors and leadership.
- Learn and apply advanced investigative reporting techniques, judgment, and skills.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to journalistic independence and the mission to seek the truth.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of professional reporting experience covering a beat.
- A local investigative story idea or area of focus rooted in Louisiana or Mississippi.
- Must be an independent journalist.
- Authorized to work in the United States (sponsorship is not provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience covering a beat with an existing investigative idea that requires more resources or editorial support.
- A deep understanding of the issues facing the Deep South through lived or professional experience in the region.
- Ability to bring new perspectives to investigative journalism.
