Remote Sensing Analyst

Responsibilities

• Design geospatial analyses that translate research hypotheses into testable proxies for market-level economic effects
• Source and evaluate satellite imagery, telecom data, and open-source geospatial datasets for quality and suitability
• Conduct exploratory spatial analysis on pilot data to detect changes in agriculture, infrastructure, and economic activity
• Develop reproducible Python, R, or GIS scripts for automated detection and quantification of landscape changes over time
• Document methodology and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

• Strong geospatial and remote sensing expertise, including GIS platforms and common earth observation datasets
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar languages for geospatial data processing and analysis
• Ability to translate economic and social research questions into technical geospatial proxies
• Resourcefulness in sourcing, evaluating, and troubleshooting open-source or cost-effective data
• Clear written and verbal communication with strong documentation practices
• Access to high-performance or cloud computing resources for large-scale imagery processing
