About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming, positive, and safe environment for individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Handle resident admission, orientation, and intake interviews, including basic goal setting
  • Monitor incoming traffic and verify resident identification to ensure safety protocols are followed
  • Support residents in developing healthy life skills and choices to assist their transition back into the community
  • Mediate resident conflicts to prevent or resolve altercations using de-escalation techniques
  • Maintain accurate daily records, including logbooks, occurrence reports, and incident reports
  • Perform light housekeeping duties and assist with linen or laundry services as needed
  • Liaise with internal and external agencies such as police, emergency services, and spiritual care teams

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Child Intervention Check
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR (Level A or C)
  • 3-12 months of frontline experience in a social service setting
  • Demonstrated skills in trauma-informed care and non-violent crisis intervention/de-escalation
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and handle potential verbal or physical aggression
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word) and basic database usage
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk stairs, and assist with moving resident belongings
