Relief Pharmacist

Responsibilities

• Coordinate drug distribution and clinical pharmacy activities to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
• Review and interpret veterinary orders for appropriateness, ensuring correct dosages and checking for potential drug interactions or toxicities.
• Dispense prescriptions in accordance with established policies, regulations, and laws.
• Counsel pet owners regarding medications and maintain accurate patient profiles.
• Maintain strict controls over audited controlled drugs and alcohol.
• Verify the work performed by support personnel, including data entry and unit-dose drug distribution.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and ancillary personnel.
• Participate in clinical programs such as antibiotic monitoring and drug-level monitoring.

Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or a BS Degree in Pharmacy.
• 6–12 months of pharmacy experience.
• Must be a Licensed Registered Pharmacist in good standing in the state of Texas.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with veterinary products.
