About the role
Responsibilities
- Analyze radiation effects in FPGA devices, including SEU, SET, SEL, and TID
- Evaluate architectural mitigation techniques such as configuration scrubbing, ECC protection, redundancy, and fault detection/recovery mechanisms
- Analyze radiation test data from heavy-ion, proton, and neutron experiments to derive reliability metrics
- Develop reliability models including cross-section analysis, FIT estimation, and mission reliability projections
- Study the susceptibility of FPGA subsystems, including programmable logic fabric, configuration memory, and embedded memories
- Collaborate with silicon architecture, circuit design, validation, software, and firmware teams to integrate reliability into device architecture
- Support the execution of radiation characterization campaigns
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in FPGA architecture, digital design, or reliability analysis
- Deep understanding of radiation effects in semiconductor devices (SEU, SET, SEL, TID)
- Knowledge of FPGA architectures, including programmable logic fabrics and configuration memory
- Familiarity with fault tolerance techniques such as ECC, redundancy, and scrubbing
- Experience with hardware design methodologies, including RTL design, simulation, and verification
- Proven ability to analyze experimental data or perform reliability modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Experience with radiation testing methodologies (heavy-ion, proton, or neutron testing)
- Experience implementing fault-tolerant techniques like Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR)
- Background in aerospace or mission-critical FPGA applications
- Experience modeling system-level reliability or architectural vulnerability
