About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute reliability programs for display technologies used in next-generation Spectacles wearable computing devices
- Plan and execute reliability testing to assess product durability and implement corrective actions in collaboration with engineering and contract manufacturers
- Lead failure analysis (FA) to identify high-risk failure modes early in the design life cycle
- Determine and systematize assessment methods for components, subassemblies, and processes to ensure quality requirements are met
- Provide subject matter expertise on reliability test methodology, measurement of device integrity, and test-to-failure approaches
- Implement data collection and reduction methods to provide real-time communication of ongoing testing activities
- Support new technology developments in materials, processes, and components using a systemic approach for risk prioritization
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or an equivalent field
- 7+ years of experience with failure analysis (FA), reliability testing, and technology development
- Hands-on experience operating and interpreting results from SEM/EDX, FTIR/DSC/TGA, CT X-ray, and optical microscopy
- Solid understanding of Six Sigma concepts and capability to perform Weibull and other model-based reliability analyses
- Strong knowledge of the physics of failure and material properties (mechanical, electrical, and optical)
- Proven history working with EMS to execute test plans and communicate results to engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Engineering or an equivalent field
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- At least 2 years of experience within the consumer electronics industry
