Regulatory Lawyer VP

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support regarding sustainability-related activities, including reporting, internal policies, and transition finance.
• Develop and implement legal strategies for risk management and compliance related to ESG and sustainability.
• Analyze emerging regulatory and legislative developments in the UK and Europe to assess impact on the bank.
• Shape advocacy strategies and support engagement with external stakeholders, including regulators and policymakers.
• Support the Legal department in legal proceedings such as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations related to ESG.
• Create and review legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Deliver training programs to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements regarding sustainability.

Requirements

• Experienced Financial Services Regulatory Advisory Lawyer with significant in-house or private practice experience.
• Proven experience in public policy, regulatory advocacy, or advising on regulatory change processes.
• Ability to analyze evolving areas of law and regulation, even where limited precedent exists.
• Strong ability to translate complex legal developments into clear implications for business strategy.
• Capability to take ownership of complex matters and provide pragmatic advice to senior internal stakeholders.
