Regulatory Engineer

About the Company

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed to provide critical power to hospitals, data centers, and remote sites.

Responsibilities

• Own end to end licensing execution efforts required to fulfill application deliverables, from safety analysis to physical protection plans
• Facilitate partnerships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies like the NRC
• Oversee technical team execution including design reviews and regulatory documentation
• Proactively review decisions to ensure adherence to novel and efficient licensing paths
• Ensure completeness, timeliness, and quality of all regulatory submissions
• Write software scripts to automate data analysis and documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a similar technical field
• 2+ years of experience certifying, regulating, qualifying, or auditing manufactured hardware
• Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation abilities
• Applied understanding of requirement derivation, negotiation, and verification
• Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with strict regulatory oversight
• Experience with DOE or NRC regulation on nuclear projects
• Experience implementing NQA-1, ISO9001, or AS9100 standards
• Experience owning, designing, building, or testing production hardware
• Strong project management skills
