Regulatory Certification Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Oversee and conduct certification test activities for Life Safety and Security products, including smoke, CO, and fire room testing.
• Partner with regulatory agencies such as UL, Intertek, CSA, and others to manage certification programs and lab accreditations.
• Develop and enhance Certification & Lab Accreditation programs to ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems and ISO 17025 requirements.
• Design, build, and improve in-house test fixtures and setups to meet regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Review and draft technical documentation, including test reports, data sheets, and CE Safety Declarations of Conformity.
• Support engineering teams during New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure compliance criteria are integrated into the development phase.
• Perform risk assessments and root cause analysis to address nonconformities and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in safety products testing and certification (specifically Carbon Monoxide, Smoke, Correlation, Fire Room, or Audible).
• Strong working knowledge of national and international safety standards, including UL217, UL268, UL1418, UL2034, UL2075, ULC-S531, CSA 6.19, and EN standards.
• Proficiency in performing risk assessments and conducting root cause analysis.
• Experience with technical documentation and lab procedure drafting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Proven ability to implement corrective actions in support of audit and proficiency test program nonconformities.
