Registrar

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level technical expertise to support the care, documentation, movement, and display of the Berndt Museum’s collections
• Coordinate collection management activities, including overseeing loans and exhibition logistics
• Ensure best-practice museum standards are met across storage, handling, digitisation, and documentation
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to support Indigenous research initiatives
• Supervise and train staff, interns, and volunteers involved in collections and exhibition work

Requirements

• Substantial experience as a registrar or in collections management within a museum, gallery, archive, or similar institution
• Demonstrated knowledge of museum registration systems, collection documentation, loans management, and exhibition logistics
• Proven ability to manage object handling, transport, storage, and display in line with professional standards
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities, researchers, and stakeholders
• Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
