About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders through polysomnography and patient education
- Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify specific physical and mental needs
- Prepare, calibrate, and maintain equipment required for testing to ensure proper functioning
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted standards and perform physiologic calibrations
- Perform polysomnographic data acquisition and monitor study-tracing quality to ensure artifact-free signals
- Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, to facilitate scoring and interpretation
- Implement appropriate interventions for patient safety, such as continuous or bi-level positive airway pressure and oxygen administration
- Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events according to center-specific protocols and professional guidelines
- Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist certification
- Current CPR or BCLS certification
- Proven ability to communicate medical information to non-medically trained individuals
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree with an emphasis in Polysomnography or an accredited Polysomnography Program
- 6+ months of professional experience in sleep technology
