Registered Practical Nurse - Vascular/Cardiovascular Surgery

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent care to cardiology, cardiovascular, and vascular surgery patients
• Apply nursing science, theory, and critical decision-making skills in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model
• Ensure practice remains consistent with the ethical framework and professional standards outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Perform clinical tasks including arrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, and postoperative care such as chest tube and temporary pacemaker management
• Participate in continuous professional development and reflective practice to improve patient care quality
• Collaborate effectively within a diverse interprofessional multidisciplinary team

Requirements

• Completion of an approved Registered Practical Nursing program, including practicum experience
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
• Current medication certificate meeting CNO standards of practice
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the unit and work a 12-hour day/night rotation including alternate weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience working with adult acute care surgical patients
