Registered Practical Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent patient care in the Emergency Department ambulatory care area
• Organize and deliver exemplary patient care within the scope of practice
• Identify abnormal patient responses and collaborate with Registered Nurses or the healthcare team
• Provide care for highly complex patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse
• Ensure practice aligns with College of Nurses of Ontario standards and UHN policies
• Participate in continuing education and reflective practice to improve care quality

Requirements

• Completion of an approved Registered Practical Nursing program
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RPN
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
• Current medication certificate meeting CNO standards
• Minimum 1 year full-time experience in adult acute care medicine
• Ability to complete ACLS and CC1 within 1 year of hire
• Strong physical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient computer skills and ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Emergency Department or Rapid Assessment Zone settings
