Registered Practical Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent nursing care within a multi-disciplinary team
• Apply nursing process knowledge to achieve patient goals for less complex care needs
• Identify and recognize abnormal or unusual patient responses and consult with the RN or healthcare team
• Provide aspects of care for highly complex patients in close consultation with the directing Registered Nurse
• Ensure practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Participate in continuing education and reflective practice to improve the quality of patient care

Requirements

• Completion of an approved Registered Practical Nursing program, including practicum experience
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
• Current medication certificate meeting CNO standards of practice
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to work rotating shifts (Days/Nights/Weekends/Holidays)

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience working on a Neurovascular unit
• Acute Care experience
