Registered Practical Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent care in accordance with UHN professional practice models and nursing standards
• Apply nursing process knowledge to achieve patient goals for less complex care needs
• Identify and recognize abnormal or unusual patient responses and consult with the RN or healthcare team
• Assist in providing care for highly complex patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse
• Ensure practice remains consistent with the ethical framework and standards outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Participate in continuous professional development and reflective practice to improve quality of care

Requirements

• Completion of an approved Registered Practical Nursing program, including practicum experience
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
• Current medication certificate meeting CNO standards of practice
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a diverse team and maintain strict confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience working on a General Internal Medicine Unit
