About the role
Responsibilities
- Participate in a 12-week graduate nurse internship program designed to prepare new nurses for pediatric general care roles
- Complete a combination of educational sessions and precepted bedside clinical experience
- Provide care for pediatric patients ranging from infants to young adults on a medical-surgical unit
- Support patients requiring specialized care in areas such as orthopedics, trauma, neurology, and endocrinology
- Maintain a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week for two years following the internship
Requirements
- Graduate Nurse or newly licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan (must not have practiced as an RN yet)
- Successful completion of the NCLEX prior to the internship start date
- Ability to start the program on October 8th, 2026
- Ability to commit to a two-year employment period
- Physical ability to stand, walk, position, and lift heavy patients and objects for long periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a nurse extern or inpatient technician
- Experience working with children and youth
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and initiative in professional growth
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
