About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide high-intensity, vigilant nursing care for critically ill pediatric patients in a 30-bed monitored ICU
- Perform complex assessments and monitor for subtle changes in patient status to prevent life-threatening deterioration
- Administer high-intensity therapies and interventions using state-of-the-art technology including ECMO, Nitric Oxide, and CRRT
- Act as a patient advocate and serve as a liaison between the patient, family, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Support family-centered care by assessing coping mechanisms and providing emotional support to families
Requirements
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan
- 12-18 months of experience as an RN in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Children's Emergency Services
- PALS certification (must be obtained within six months of hire or prior to the end of the probationary period)
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy patients/objects for long periods
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with the principles and practice of Patient and Family-Centered Care
- Previous pediatric clinical experience
