About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity nursing care for infants, children, and adolescents in a technology-intensive Pediatric Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit (PCTU)
- Perform complex physiologic patient assessments in a high-intensity environment for patients with rapidly changing status
- Utilize advanced medical technologies including ECMO, CRRT, and VADs
- Partner closely with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and fellows to deliver specialized medical and surgical care
- Implement family-centered care by providing individual support and education to families throughout the admission process
Requirements
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse License
- 12-24 months of experience in a PICU, NICU, Children's unit, or Adult Emergency Department
- PALS certification (must be obtained within six months of hire or prior to the end of the probationary period)
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including rotating weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- Knowledge of and experience with the congenital heart patient population
- ACLS certification
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills
- Proficiency in the principles of Patient and Family Centered Care
