About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pre-procedure assessments including history, medications, allergies, and anticoagulation status
- Provide patient and family education regarding EP studies, ablations, cardioversion, and device implants
- Monitor and document patient status, hemodynamics, pain, and sedation/analgesia response
- Function as a sedation RN within the EP Lab, maintaining sterile field awareness and supporting procedural flow
- Administer medications and IV fluids, including antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, and vasopressors
- Recognize and respond to clinical complications such as arrhythmias, bleeding, or airway compromise
- Coordinate care with inpatient units, anesthesia, and scheduling to ensure timely throughput
- Adhere to infection prevention standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Current nursing licensure in the state of Michigan
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience
- Recent experience (within last 3 years) in ICU, PACU, ED, EP, or Cath Lab
- Competency in moderate sedation and monitoring sedated patients
- Experience with arrhythmia interpretation and hemodynamic pressure monitoring
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Ability to meet physical demands, including standing for long periods and wearing protective lead
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- Experience with cardiac implantable electronic devices (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT, loop recorders)
- Familiarity with anticoagulation management
- Experience precepting, mentoring, or participating in unit-based quality projects
