About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care in various ambulatory settings, primarily supporting the Rogel Cancer Center Clinics.
- Assess patient needs, manage medical issues, and assist with triage of high-acuity patients.
- Manage prescription refill requests, secure patient messages, and provide telephone triage/symptom management.
- Administer medications, manage port maintenance, and provide therapy and procedural education to patients and families.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including providers, infusion, scheduling, and lab management, to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel and manage daily clinic operations.
- Document all health information accurately and expediently using electronic health record systems.
Requirements
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of three (3) years of oncology RN experience within the last five (5) years.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) documentation and typing.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and ability to set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree.
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification.
- Experience in Ambulatory Care with telephone triage or symptom management within the last three years.
- Previous experience as an Ambulatory Care Float RN.
