About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients in labor and delivery and high-risk units
  • Deliver care to obstetrical triage, antepartum, intrapartum, peri-operative, postpartum, and peri-anesthesia patients
  • Collaborate with clerical staff, patient care technicians, and surgical technologists to ensure high-quality care
  • Adhere to VVWH Nursing Standards of Care, AORN, ASPAN, and AWHONN standards
  • Participate in professional leadership opportunities such as unit committees, charge nurse duties, and precepting new employees

Requirements

  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
  • Minimum of 1 year of moderate care experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Med/Surg, ICU, ED, or OR
  • Ability to successfully complete Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) credentialing within the first 3 months of employment
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week on Day shift or A-shift during orientation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • One year of adult Med/Surg, stepdown, or ICU experience
  • Certification in obstetrics specialty or electronic fetal monitoring
  • Certification in peri-operative nursing (e.g., CNOR) or peri-anesthesia nursing (e.g., CPAN)
  • ACLS or OB ACLS certification
  • Successful completion of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring course
