About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective nursing care to a varied adult patient population in a 32-bed medicine pulmonary unit
- Act as a Patient Care Coordinator responsible for planning care from admission to discharge
- Manage complex cardiopulmonary conditions including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and cystic fibrosis
- Coordinate nursing care through the utilization of the nursing process and collaborate with the health team
- Perform charge nurse duties and participate in nursing committees and clinical leadership
- Act as a preceptor and role model to other nursing staff
- Provide nursing consultation both inter-departmentally and intra-departmentally
Requirements
- Current Michigan RN license (or ability to obtain within 45 days for Graduate Nurse applicants)
- Successful completion of the NCLEX
- A complete and accurate resume must be attached to the application
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- One or more years of experience at the University of Michigan Hospital
- Demonstrated leadership skills, such as preceptor or charge nurse experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Groupwise
