Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective nursing care to a varied adult patient population in a 32-bed medicine pulmonary unit
• Act as a Patient Care Coordinator responsible for planning care from admission to discharge
• Manage complex cardiopulmonary conditions including asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and cystic fibrosis
• Coordinate nursing care through the utilization of the nursing process and collaborate with the health team
• Perform charge nurse duties and participate in nursing committees and clinical leadership
• Act as a preceptor and role model to other nursing staff
• Provide nursing consultation both inter-departmentally and intra-departmentally

Requirements

• Current Michigan RN license (or ability to obtain within 45 days for Graduate Nurse applicants)
• Successful completion of the NCLEX
• A complete and accurate resume must be attached to the application

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• One or more years of experience at the University of Michigan Hospital
• Demonstrated leadership skills, such as preceptor or charge nurse experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Groupwise
