Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model
• Ensure nursing practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Apply nursing science, theory, and critical decision-making to patient care
• Participate in continuing education and lifelong learning to meet the needs of the oncology patient population
• Perform reflective practice to evaluate and improve the quality of nursing and patient care
• Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care

Requirements

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Completed Chemotherapy course
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) and C.P.R. certification
• Excellent IV skills
• Working knowledge of Central Venous Catheters, Port-a-cath, and PICC lines
• Strong physical assessment, psycho-social, and patient/family teaching skills
• Strong organizational, decision-making, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
• Experience in Malignant Hematology or Oncology
• Oncology nurse certification
• Experience with the delivery of blood and blood products
