About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent nursing care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model
- Ensure all nursing practice meets the legal and ethical standards outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Utilize nursing science, theory, and critical decision-making to manage patient care in the Hematology and Medical Oncology department
- Perform physical assessments and detect changes in patient status promptly
- Participate in continuous professional development and reflective practice to improve quality of care
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams within a patient-focused care model
Requirements
- Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Chemotherapy certification
- Proven experience in the care of clients with oncologic disorders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to function independently and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) care
- Oncology certification
- BMT certification
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
