Registered Nurse Triage

Responsibilities

• Evaluate incoming patients to determine severity of condition and immediate needs
• Prioritize patients based on medical needs to ensure rapid treatment
• Perform rapid assessment and prioritization of citizens entering the shelter
• Coordinate patient transfers if required
• Assess all citizens upon entry into the shelter and annotate arrival
• Determine if patients require a higher level of care than the facility can provide
• Provide appropriate medical care within professional scope
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care
• Participate in general shelter operations

Requirements

• Current, full, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida
• Graduate from an accredited associate's or baccalaureate nursing program
• Minimum one year of professional experience as a licensed RN in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to respond to a disaster within 24 hours of notice
• Ability to work onsite in an austere environment until the operation concludes
• Basic Life Support certification (ACLS and PALS preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health records

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with special needs populations
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
