About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing and psychotherapy to patients with substance use disorders (SUDs) within the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic and Addiction Outpatient Program (AOP).
- Apply nursing science, theory, and critical decision-making to deliver compassionate and competent care.
- Ensure all practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Perform concurrent disorders assessment and intervention.
- Participate in continuing education and reflective practice to improve the quality of patient care.
- Provide coverage to the Injection Clinic and Substance Use Intervention Team (SUIT) as required.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in mental health and/or addiction nursing.
- Proven experience and training in the controlled act of psychotherapy (e.g., CBT, DBT), counselling, and motivational interviewing.
- Basic Life Support (B.L.S.) certification.
- Ability to obtain certification in CBT/DBT/MI within two years of hiring.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an outpatient addiction setting.
- Experience employing trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and equity-enhancing approaches.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
- CPI certification in NVCI.
