About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing and psychotherapy to patients with substance use disorders (SUDs) within the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic and Addiction Outpatient Program (AOP).
  • Apply nursing science, theory, and critical decision-making to deliver compassionate and competent care.
  • Ensure all practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Perform concurrent disorders assessment and intervention.
  • Participate in continuing education and reflective practice to improve the quality of patient care.
  • Provide coverage to the Injection Clinic and Substance Use Intervention Team (SUIT) as required.

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in mental health and/or addiction nursing.
  • Proven experience and training in the controlled act of psychotherapy (e.g., CBT, DBT), counselling, and motivational interviewing.
  • Basic Life Support (B.L.S.) certification.
  • Ability to obtain certification in CBT/DBT/MI within two years of hiring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an outpatient addiction setting.
  • Experience employing trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and equity-enhancing approaches.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
  • CPI certification in NVCI.
