Registered Nurse Psychiatric

Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care within a Behavioral Health Unit, including patient screening and mental health assessments.
• Administer and monitor medications, including oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and topical therapies.
• Monitor and support patients with serious mental illness and those under suicide precautions.
• Respond to medical and behavioral health emergencies, providing immediate on-site stabilization.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and therapeutic structure.
• Support continuity of care during patient transfers, discharges, or releases.

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Minimum of one year of professional psychiatric nursing experience in a hospital, medical office, or residential setting.
• Board Certification in Psychiatric Nursing by the ANCC (must be obtained within 2 years of hire).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• U.S. citizenship and residency in the continental U.S.
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and medical examination.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a detention or correctional healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in Spanish.
