Registered Nurse Psychiatric

Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care within the Behavioral Health Unit
• Perform initial health and mental health screenings
• Monitor and support patients with serious mental illness and suicide precautions
• Administer medications including oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and topical therapies
• Assess and document patient status changes, psychiatric symptoms, and suicide risk
• Respond to medical and behavioral health emergencies and provide stabilization
• Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary behavioral health and medical teams

Requirements

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Maryland (or ability to obtain one)
• Minimum one year of professional psychiatric nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)
• Ability to pass a medical examination and background investigation
• U.S. citizenship and five-year U.S. residency

Preferred Qualifications

• Board Certification in Psychiatric Nursing (ANCC)
• Experience in detention or correctional healthcare settings
• Proficiency in Spanish
