Registered Nurse, Pediatric Emergency

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and collect information using observation, communication, and physical assessment skills
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with patients and families
• Coordinate nursing care by setting priorities and delegating tasks to support staff
• Collaborate with the interprofessional care team, including physicians and clinical nurse educators, to resolve care issues
• Provide patient and family education regarding illness prevention, health restoration, and self-care
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses according to practice standards
• Participate in research, quality improvement activities, and nursing committees

Requirements

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing
• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
• Ability to perform clinical assessments and nursing interventions
• Willingness to complete applicable post-graduate specialty nursing courses/programs
