Registered Nurse Manager Behavioral Health

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and operational oversight of Behavioral Health Unit nursing services and staff.
• Plan and monitor nursing coverage to ensure continuous on-site registered nurse coverage across all shifts.
• Support nursing operations for patients with serious mental illness, including those on suicide precautions or requiring stabilization.
• Coordinate patient care with psychiatrists, behavioral health providers, and interdisciplinary staff to support treatment planning and continuity of care.
• Monitor nursing documentation for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness within the electronic health record.
• Oversee safe medication administration and ensure timely communication of significant changes in patient condition to leadership.
• Support suicide prevention and emergency response processes, including staff readiness for CPR and mental health emergencies.
• Lead orientation, competency validation, and performance management for assigned nursing personnel.

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Maryland (or ability to obtain one).
• Minimum of six years of professional nursing experience.
• Baccalaureate or graduate nursing degree from an accredited program (ACEN or CCNE).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Working knowledge of behavioral health nursing, including suicide prevention and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to supervise nursing staff and support a 24-hour nursing operation.
• U.S. citizenship and residency in the U.S. for the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a detention or correctional healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in Spanish.
