Registered Nurse Manager Behavioral Health

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and operational oversight of Behavioral Health Unit nursing services and assigned nursing staff
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor nursing coverage to support continuous on-site registered nurse coverage
• Support nursing operations for patients with serious mental illness, suicide precautions, and stabilization needs
• Ensure nursing care aligns with scope-of-practice, contract standards, and accreditation requirements
• Coordinate patient care with psychiatrists, behavioral health providers, and interdisciplinary staff
• Monitor nursing documentation for completeness, timeliness, and accuracy in electronic health records
• Oversee safe medication administration and continuity of care during transitions
• Support suicide prevention and emergency response processes, including CPR and mental health emergency recognition
• Lead orientation, competency validation, and performance management for nursing personnel
• Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and program improvement efforts

Requirements

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Maryland (or ability to obtain one)
• Minimum six years of professional nursing experience
• Graduate from an accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Working knowledge of behavioral health nursing, suicide prevention, and medication administration
• Ability to supervise nursing staff in a 24-hour operation
• U.S. citizenship and five-year U.S. residency
• Ability to pass a medical examination and thorough background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a detention or correctional healthcare setting
• Proficiency in Spanish
