Registered Nurse Manager Behavioral Health

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and operational oversight of Behavioral Health Unit nursing services and staff
• Plan and monitor nursing coverage to ensure continuous on-site registered nurse presence
• Support nursing operations for patients with serious mental illness, suicide precautions, and stabilization needs
• Ensure nursing care aligns with scope-of-practice, contract standards, and accreditation requirements
• Coordinate patient care with psychiatrists, medical providers, and interdisciplinary staff
• Monitor nursing documentation for completeness and accuracy in electronic health records
• Oversee safe medication administration and continuity of care during transitions
• Support suicide prevention and emergency response processes, including CPR and mental health emergency recognition
• Lead orientation, competency validation, and performance management for nursing personnel
• Provide direct patient care within scope of licensure when required

Requirements

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Maryland (or ability to obtain one)
• Minimum six years of professional nursing experience
• Graduate from an accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Working knowledge of behavioral health nursing, suicide prevention, and medication administration
• Ability to supervise nursing staff in a 24-hour operation
• U.S. citizenship and five-year U.S. residency
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and medical examination

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a detention or correctional healthcare setting
• Proficiency in Spanish
