About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, collaborative, and competent nursing care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model
  • Ensure all nursing practice meets the legal and ethical standards outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Apply nursing science, theory, and critical decision-making to patient care within the Malignant Hematology Day Unit
  • Participate in continuous professional development and lifelong learning to meet evolving patient needs
  • Perform reflective practice to evaluate and improve the quality of nursing care
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to implement and evaluate patient care plans

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Completed Chemotherapy course
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) and C.P.R. certification
  • Excellent IV skills
  • Working knowledge of Central Venous Catheters, Port-a-cath, and PICC lines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Experience in Malignant Hematology or Oncology nursing
  • Oncology nurse certification
  • Experience with the delivery of blood and blood products
