Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-informed quality nursing care to an acute medical and surgical patient population
• Function to the full scope of practice as per CNO
• Competently assess patients, intervene appropriately, and evaluate outcomes
• Manage IV initiation/maintenance, medication administration, blood products, and TPN
• Provide care for CVADs, NG tubes, chest tubes, enteral feeds, and wound management
• Support pre-operative and post-operative patient care
• Interpret laboratory values and implement appropriate nursing interventions
• Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team

Requirements

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Recent medical/surgical experience in an acute care setting
• Telemetry experience
• Ability to complete Coronary Care I within 6 months of hire
• Strong patient assessment skills
• Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Critical care experience
• Physical Assessment Course
• Experience with Meditech and McKesson Visibility
