About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with drug and alcohol-related needs
- Develop, implement, and review tailored care plans for each individual
- Administer medications safely, including detoxification protocols when required
- Provide education and support regarding harm reduction, relapse prevention, and recovery strategies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mental health professionals and security staff
Requirements
- Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
- Either a postgraduate qualification in AOD with minimum 5 years of specialty experience, OR a minimum of 7 years of specialist AOD nursing experience
- Proven experience in substance use, drug and alcohol nursing, or a related healthcare setting
- Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
- Ability to remain calm, confident, and clinically sound under pressure
- Non-judgemental approach and strong interpersonal skills to engage with diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in high-security or detention settings
