About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with drug and alcohol-related needs
  • Develop, implement, and review tailored care plans for each individual
  • Administer medications safely, including detoxification protocols when required
  • Provide education and support regarding harm reduction, relapse prevention, and recovery strategies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mental health professionals and security staff

Requirements

  • Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  • Either a postgraduate qualification in AOD with 5 years of specialty experience, OR 7 years of specialist AOD nursing experience
  • Proven experience in substance use, drug and alcohol nursing, or a related healthcare setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a non-judgemental approach
  • Ability to remain calm, confident, and clinically sound under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in high-security or detention settings
