Registered Nurse - CVICU

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care within a large-scale Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Manage complex heart surgery and transplant patients
• Perform primary nursing duties including care for patients with aortic coronary bypass, valve replacement, and aneurysm repair
• Support patients requiring technological assistance such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and Continuous Venous-Venous Hemodialysis (CVVHD)
• Utilize excellent decision-making skills to manage high-acuity cardiovascular cases

Requirements

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of recent surgical experience
• Completion of a recognized Critical Care course
• Ability to comply with the physical demands of the intensive care unit

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.)
• Previous experience in Cardiovascular Surgery
• Previous experience in a CVICU setting
